Can We Afford This?

We believe relationship work should feel grounded and realistic, not overwhelming.

Our commitment is to help couples find a pace and structure that fits their life and finances. Our fees are set intentionally in line with other specialized practices in Montana, and we’re always open to conversations about scheduling and session frequency so this process feels sustainable.

Just like most meaningful things, this is an investment. And we approach it the same way Montanans approach anything that really matters: steady, thoughtful, and built to last.

What Are the Fees?

$225 for a couples counseling hour (Note: The first Intake Session is $245 and 80-90 minutes long)

$200 for an individual counseling hour

Couples therapy usually begins weekly so we can interrupt unhelpful cycles and build early momentum. As things stabilize and strengthen, most couples move to every-other-week sessions and eventually to monthly sessions before completing therapy.

Across the full course of meaningful couples work, many couples find they are investing an average of a few hundred dollars per month over several months in their relationship.

We’re happy to talk through what a realistic plan might look like for you.

A Return on Investment!

Starting couples therapy means you’re choosing to put time, energy, and resources into the one system that touches almost every part of your life.

Your mental health.
Your kids.
Your work.
Your physical health.
Your sense of home.

We specialize in relationship science and attachment-based work so you can feel confident that what you’re investing in is not surface-level counseling, but deep, skilled work aimed at changing the patterns that actually shape your day-to-day life together.

Strong relationships don’t happen by accident.
They’re built deliberately.

Do You Take Insurance?

We are not in-network with insurance companies and do not accept copays.

However, many couples receive partial reimbursement for our sessions through their out-of-network benefits. Depending on your plan, this can sometimes mean 50-80%+ per session paid back to you directly by your insurance company.

We provide a monthly superbill you can submit for reimbursement.

We advise that you call your insurance company and ask about out-of-network reimbursement for family or couples therapy. We also provide a free step-by-step guide you can use when speaking with your insurance representative. Get the free step-by-step guide here.

What About HSAs and FSAs?

Yes. Because our clinicians are fully licensed, you may use HSA or FSA cards for payment.

Many couples choose this option, especially if they have high deductibles, since it allows you to use pre-tax dollars toward therapy. Depending on your tax bracket, this can significantly reduce the effective cost of care.

Deposit and Scheduling Policy

When you schedule your first appointment, we reserve extended time specifically for your relationship. To hold that space, we require a deposit equal to your therapist’s hourly rate.

Your initial consultation is a 90-minute session so we can slow things down, understand your relationship deeply, and build a strong foundation.

If you cancel at least 48 hours in advance, your deposit is refunded minus a small administrative fee ($20). Cancellations within 48 hours are charged the full assessment fee, as extended sessions are difficult to fill on short notice.

How Long Does Couples Therapy Take?

Most couples who want lasting, meaningful change work with us somewhere between 12 and 25 sessions, often over 5–10 months.

Early on, sessions are usually weekly. Over time, as new patterns take hold, sessions gradually space out to every other week and then monthly.

Every relationship is different. Some need more time, some less. We continually reassess together so therapy fits where you actually are, not a preset timeline.

Session Length

Your first consultation is 90 minutes.

Ongoing couples sessions are typically 50-55 minutes.

Extended sessions are available when clinically appropriate.
